Fund Raising Event - Garden Fete

posted Sep 15, 2011, 11:48 AM by Web Master
On Saturday 27th August 2011 at 10am, saw us setting up for the 2pm start. We were praying the weather would hold, but, the forecast was heavy showers. None the less we pushed ahead, those with gazebo's bought them and others were borrowed. How grateful we were to have them, as, within the hour of opening, the heavens opened! Not only rain but thunder too!
Did this deter punters? Not at all! it seemed the local community turned out in force to support our course, as indeed, did our Parish Community from St Andrew's Dumfries. And despite the weather we raised a wonderful £1.100, which is sheduled to go toward the fitting of a shower in the downstairs toilet. This will give additional toiletry facilities, but also enable less able bodied people come and stay and to enjoy New Abbey.

Our thanks go to all concerned in helping plan and facilitate on the day. To those who came to support us and those who handed over their monies!!!
